Creating pathways between your child’s inner world to family and community who support them.

A Better Approach

If you’ve found your way here, it might be because the systems you trusted to help haven’t truly seen your child. Maybe the approaches felt rigid or the progress didn’t feel right. You’re not alone, and you’re not imagining it.

In my practice, we do things differently. I create a space where your child’s natural ways of communicating are heard, understood, and nurtured. We go beyond checklists and surface-level goals, focusing on meaningful, connected communication that empowers both you and your child. Growth starts here!

Expression without limits. Connection without conditions.

    Gestalt Language Processing (Delayed Echolalia)

Does your child repeat phrases (delayed echolalia), love music, speak in rich intonation, or feel stuck in traditional speech therapy? They may be a Gestalt Language Processor (GLP) — a child who learns language in whole chunks before breaking it down to single units.

Using Evidence-Based Marge Blanc’s Natural Language Acquisition framework, I offer neurodiversity-affirming support that helps GLPs move toward flexible, autonomous communication, without losing their unique voice.

    Socioemotional Communication Skills

Neurodiversity-affirming support for socioemotional communication honors each child’s natural ways of connecting and expressing themselves. We focus on building self-awareness, interception and sensory and emotional regulation, understanding individual strengths and needs, exploring multiple perspectives (both neurodivergent and neurotypical), and fostering self-advocacy.

This is not ABA or an ablist “social skills” program. We don’t teach kids to mask or perform — we support authentic connection, emotional safety, and mental well-being so children can build meaningful relationships while being fully themselves.

    Speech Sounds & Stuttering

Speech therapy for speech sound production and stuttering is rooted in a holistic approach that supports each child’s unique way of communicating. For speech sound development, we use playful, personalized strategies that build clear articulation alongside confidence and emotional well-being.

Our work with stuttering is neurodiversity-affirming, meaning we view it as a natural variation in communication. We focus on understanding, self-advocacy, and creating supportive environments, with fluency strategies offered only if the child and family choose to learn them.

Service One

Telehealth Sessions

Telehealth sessions offer flexibility without losing connection. They’re a great option for families in rural areas, those with full schedules (hello, soccer, tutoring, and everything else!), or anyone living far from Ojai. Online sessions are playful, engaging, and tailored to your child’s communication style and sensory needs. We use everyday routines, favorite toys, or on-screen tools to support language, regulation, and connection in ways that feel natural. Caregiver coaching is always included, so you feel confident supporting your child beyond the screen.

Service Two

In-Person Sessions

In-person sessions are held in grounding, sensory-friendly spaces like our Ojai indoor space or in nature by the river, beach, or forest. Every session is child-led and shaped by your child’s unique communication style, sensory needs, and interests. We make sure to dedicate time to family coaching, so you feel supported and confident carrying communication skills into everyday life.

Whether we’re playing, moving, stimming, or simply being together, the focus is always on connection, not compliance.

Service Three

Holistic Evaluations

My evaluation process is holistic and neurodiversity-affirming, designed to understand how your child authentically communicates, connects, and regulates in everyday life. Instead of relying only on standardized tests, I use natural observations, communication samples, sensory and emotional profiles, and input from caregivers and teachers. You’ll receive a comprehensive, strengths-based report with meaningful goals and recommendations — something you can keep, refer back to, and share with others to support your child in ways that help them to grow healthily.

Book a free Consultation

At Hana Speech Therapy, I take a holistic approach to therapy. My process begins with an evaluation to understand your child's unique needs. I work closely with families to create a personalized therapy plan that incorporates your child's special interests, sensory profile, and unique style of expression for integration into their real life. Throughout the journey, I provide continuous support and advocacy to ensure your child and family feel heard and valued. Book your free 20-minute free consultation—available by video or phone—or contact me directly to schedule your first session.

Step One

Consultation

We start with a free 20-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. For a more in-depth discussion, you can choose an hour-long consultation, where I’ll provide personalized recommendations, a free resource PDF, and any relevant referrals to support your child’s needs.

Step Two

Dynamic Assessment & Treatment

Next, we’ll conduct a holistic, comprehensive evaluation that truly represents your child’s skills, strengths, and needs. If an evaluation isn’t necessary (for example, if your child has already undergone extensive assessments), we will move directly into a dynamic, informal assessment process integrated into the treatment itself. This allows us to assess your child’s progress naturally while focusing on their personalized therapy plan.

Step Three

Personalized Therapy Plan & Ongoing Support

Based on our assessment, I’ll create a therapy plan tailored to your child’s unique needs, interests, and communication style. Throughout the process, I provide continuous support and advocacy to ensure your family feels seen, heard, and fully supported.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • That’s completely okay. Your child doesn’t need to act a certain way to benefit from therapy. I follow their lead, whether they’re moving, stimming, silent, or expressive in their own way. Sessions are built around connection, not compliance.

  • Many families hear this, but I gently disagree. Every child is ready to be seen, heard, and supported—it just depends on how we show up for them. My approach doesn’t require sitting still or answering questions on cue. I meet your child where they are and create space for connection and communication to grow naturally.

  • Not at all. This is called echolalia, and it’s a meaningful way many children develop language. I specialize in supporting Gestalt Language Processors by helping them move from scripts to more flexible, spontaneous language—at their own pace, and in their own voice.

  • Maybe—but that’s not always the goal. We focus on connection and authentic communication in all forms: words, gestures, facial expressions, movement, or AAC. Language grows when kids feel safe, regulated, and truly seen.

  • You don’t need to have everything figured out. I offer a free consultation so we can talk about your child, your questions, and your goals—and figure out together what kind of support feels right.

  • No. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming and relationship-based. I don’t use behavior charts, token systems, or compliance-based goals. Instead, I support autonomy, communication, and self-expression that works for your child—not just what’s expected.

  • I take a holistic, child-led approach that includes sensory regulation, emotional safety, and communication that aligns with how your child naturally expresses themselves. We focus on connection, not correction—so your child can thrive as their full self.

  • Yes! For many kids, being at home helps them feel more comfortable and regulated. Telehealth sessions are playful, flexible, and always include caregiver coaching to support everyday communication outside of sessions. It’s a great option for busy families or those outside of Ventura or Santa Barbara counties.

  • This is really common. Many neurodivergent children hold it together at school and release their stress at home, where they feel safest. I work with families to understand what’s going on beneath the surface and support regulation, expression, and communication that doesn't rely on masking.

  • Yes. I provide written reports, collaborate with teachers, and offer insights to help school teams better understand and support your child’s communication. I also offer IEP consultation and advocacy as part of select service packages.

  • Bilingualism is not a delay—it’s a strength. I support all of the languages your child uses to connect with others. Therapy can include both languages, and I’ll work with your family to honor your child’s full communication profile without pressure to choose one.
